The School of Management is the first School to be established in the Pondicherry University in the year 1986 and is one of the popular Schools of Excellence in the campus primarily focusing on the business related courses since the very inception of this University. The School of Management is one of the top ranked Business Schools in South India.
Department of Internationals Business
The Department of International Business (DIB) is one of the six departments under the School of Management and was established during the academic year 2006-07. DIB is offering two-year, four semesters, full-time MBA in International Business.
Programme of Study
Full Time Programme : MBA (International Business) (Two-year, 4 Semesters Masters Programme leading to the award of the Degree of Master of Business Administration in International Business.
Rapid developments in the international business on one hand and the consequential impact of the same on Indias domestic market on the other, call for a professional approach and sensitivity to international business environment. The MBA (International Business) is a specialized program for developing a competent cadre of business executives to meet the countrys growing requirements of training personnel in the field of international business management.
To effectively compete in the present day emerging global economy, one needs to have a thorough understanding of international products and capital markets, multicultural organizations, and the competitive structure of global industries. The MBA (International Business) is a two-year Masters Degree program that provides grounding in the international dimension of every business function; incorporates international experience through study; and exposes students to the best practices of the world's leading companies.
Program Objective
As we are alert to the fact that a global vision is imperative to effectively tap the emerging opportunities thrown up by the increasing integration of economic activities across national boundaries, our MBA (International Business) program is designed to groom the budding young minds for executive positions in the area of International Business and Management. To meet this objective, students will be provided specialisation through classroom teaching and adequate exposure to export-import procedures, documentation, forex management, international marketing, international business environment, etc.
Program Focus
The main academic focus is on equipping the students with an in-depth knowledge of global business and to instill in them an urge to take up competitive global challenges. The course curriculum is so designed that the students are groomed to take up the challenges of new millennium, which are truly international in nature and not restricted by geographical or political boundaries.
The program also focuses on equipping its students with all the knowledge and expertise in dealing with the Corporate world ranging from International Marketing, Economic Analysis, International Logistics, Cross Cultural Management, Management of MNC's, Global Business Information System, Export-Import Systems, International Regulatory Environment and International Strategic Management.
Program Aims
To provide students with a frame-work and various tools for formulating competitive strategies in response to increased internationalization;
To pay particular attention to gain a deeper insight into the international environment within which firms operate, and develop appropriate management strategies;
To challenge convention by removing subject and functional boundaries, so as to make effective decisions in the face of global competition;
To develop a critical awareness of the operation of global organizations within their international environment;
To gain an advanced understanding of international, ethical and strategic concepts and current theories in the management of global businesses.
Program Features
The MBA (International Business) Program a multidisciplinary and integrative curriculum reinforcing the strategic, international and ethical dimensions of business has the following salient features:
With experienced teachers on the Faculty, the program equips the students with the practical nuances of conducting international business in a competitive environment;
The Course is meticulously designed to meet the growing international business challenges, and to develop a competent cadre of business executives;
The University has a well equipped Library, Computer Centre and 24 -hour Internet access;
Using lectures, case studies, problem-based learning and group projects, the program prepares the students to manage, motivate, innovate, and lead.
Periodical Guest Lectures by Executives from different MNCs; Industry Visits; Summer Project training and a final Project in the fourth Semester in any MNC. are the USPs of our program.
Eligibility criteria for admission into MBA: International Business
Bachelors (10+2+3 )or Post Graduate (10+2+3+2) Degree in any discipline with 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade as recognized by Pondicherry University or as recognized by UGC.
Selection Procedure
Selection will be based on an all India level entrance examination conducted by the University. The short listed candidates in the written examination will be called for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Those who are short listed in the GD and PI based on merit will be admitted into MBA: International Business Programme.
