Department aims at equipping students with quantitative techniques for
economic analysis and provides facilities for doing theoretical and
applied research in economics. The department offers research
facilities in the following areas: Human Resource Development, Regional
Economics, Agricultural Economics, Migration Economics, Fishery
Economics, Islamic Economics, Health Economics, Energy Economics and
Environmental Economics.

Entrance Examination:
The entrance examinations to the M.A, M.Phil and Ph.D. courses would
consist of objective type questions, short questions as well as essay
type questions relating to economics, statistics and mathematics and it
aims at assessing the candidate's knowledge in economics as well as his
familiarity with basic statistical and mathematical tools. The
questions for the entrance examination for all the programmes shall be
of both objective and subjective type.
The written examination for admission to M.A
Econometrics course would include questions mainly from the following
topics: Demand Theory, Production, Market Equilibrium, Factor Pricing,
Classical Macroeconomics, Keynesian theory of Income Determination,
Inflation Unemployment, Balance of Payments, Foreign Exchange market,
International Currency System, Public Revenue, Public Expenditure,
Public Dept. Laws of Indices, Functions and limits Logarithm,
Differential Calculus, Central Tendencies, Dispersion and Correlation.
The written examination for admission to the M.Phil would normally
include questions at the M.A. level in the following areas: Consumer
Behaviour, Theory of production, Market Structure, Pricing methods,
Theories of Distribution, General Equilibrium, Welfare Economics,
Keynesian Economics, Post Keynesian Developments in Consumption and
Investment function,, Inflation and Unemployment, Models of Economic
growth, Under development Theories, Development Policies, Comparative
Cost Doctrine, Hacksher Ohlin Theory, Balance of Payments, Foreign
Exchange, International Currency System, IMF,IBRD, WTO. Differential
and Integral Calculus, Metrics and Vectors, Sampling Techniques,
Inequality Measures, Correlation and Regression.
Questions in the written examination for admission to the Ph.D
programme would be largely at M.A. and M.Phil level from the areas
given in respect of M.A and M.Phil programmes given above. In addition
there would be a few questions relating to Research Methodology.
The written examination for admission to the PGDBM closely follows the
pattern of MAT. Questions would be such as to test the candidate's
numerical ability, reasoning, general knowledge and command over
English. All questions would be of objective type.

library.
