Department of Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology provides facilities for intensive training and research in the areas of Social Anthropology, Medical Anthropology and Visual Anthropology. The Department aims to train candidates who are oriented towards advanced research and training related to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and rural studies.
Special Grants
Major research projects were received from University Grants Commission, New Delhi Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi, and Ministry of Social Justice Empowerment.

Entrance examination
M.A.:
The entrance examination will consist of objective type questions.
Ph.D.: The entrance examination for admission to Ph.D. programme will be at the level of M.A. in the following areas: Social Anthropology, Cultural Anthropology, Physical Anthropology, Pre-historic Anthropology, Economic Anthropology, Medical Anthropology, Nutrition and Health, Women’s Studies, Political Anthropology, Visual Anthropology and Social Change. There will also be an interview.

Infrastructure facilities
The Department has good computer facilities with free Internet access for the students and scholars. There are separate laboratories for Cultural Anthropology and Physical Anthropology
