The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) gives an annual
grant of about 5 Lakhs for procuring books and journals for the
library. Further, NBHM offers two scholarships each for first and
second year M.Sc. (Rs 1200/- per month) annually.
Eligibility
Criteria
Ph.D. Programme(Full-time)
Candidates with Master's degree in the respective discipline are
eligible to apply.
M.Sc. Mathematics
Candidates with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics are eligible to
apply.
Entrance
Examination
The question paper for admission to M.Sc. Mathematics will comprise of
objective type questions at the B.Sc. level. A majority of
questions
will be on the following topics: sets, sequences, series, limits,
continuity, differentiation, integration, complex variable, group
theory, vector spaces, matrices, determinant, linear transformations,
rank, nullity, eigenvalues of linear maps, elementary probability,
vector calculus and ordinary differential equations.
The question paper for admission to M.Sc. Statistics will comprise of
objective type questions at the B.Sc. level.
For admission to M.Phil. /Ph.D. the questions will be of
objective
type at the M.Sc. level. A majority of questions
will be drawn from
algebra, topology, functional analysis, linear algebra, real analysis,
complex analysis, graph theory, discrete mathematics, analytical
dynamics, number theory, differential equations, fluid mechanics and
basic probability.
