College proposes to give intensive coaching for Preliminary
Examination. The coaching will cover two papers – (i) General Studies and (ii) one subject to be selected from
the list
of 5 optional papers listed below. However, the College
administration may limit the choice of optional subjects depending upon
the viability of the minimum number of candidates opting for a specific
subject. (a) Economics (b) Indian History (c) Policital Science (d) Public Administration (e) Sociology Age Limit The age limit/eligibility criteria are the same as laid down in the advertisement for Civil Services Examination in Employment News Dec. 3 – 9 2005 issue. A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August 2006. i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1976 and not later than 1st August 1985. (For age relaxation refer to Employment News Dec. 3 – 9 2005 Issue) Eligibility Criteria The eligibility criteria is the same as given in the advertisement for the Civil Services Examination in Employment News 3 – 9 December 2005 issue. Admission Procedure Admission is open to all graduates who qualify in the Screening Test and/or Interview which will be conducted by the Pondicherry University Community College if need arises. Fee Structure The selected candidates should pay the course fee of Rs.8,750/- in lump sum (no installment) and also the Library refundable Caution Deposit of Rs.500. Salient Features of the Coaching Programme (i) Coaching Programme will be offered from January 2006 to May 2006 by experienced Professors and Experts in respective discipline. (ii) There will be periodical face to face interaction with Civil Service Officers of Government Departments. (iii) There will be periodic Guest Lectures by eminent scholars on matters of current importance. (iv) Regular weekly tests both in General Studies and Optional Subjects will be conducted. (v) Since this programme is introduced with high ideals, expectation and motivation, only serious minded candidates will be admitted to this coaching programme. Candidates who pay undivided and full time attention to the preparation of this examination for five months will be admitted for this coaching programme. Issue and Submission of Application The admission is almost through. ONLY FEW SEATS ARE AVAILABLE. The prospectus along with the application can be obtained from the Office of the Principal, Pondicherry University Community College, Lawspet, in person during the office hours on all working days on payment of Rs.250/- by cash. (For SC/ST/PH on production of relevant certificate, Rs.100 by cash). The last date for submitting the filled in application is 23.01.2006.
